Blog Entry PICTURE PERFECT: WATERFeb 6, '08 9:27 PM
for everyone
Picture Perfect for all who do not know is a weekly challenge to post a picture that fits the theme posted each week. It must be original not from the web. I was excite when I saw this weeks theme as I had recently taken some great water pictures. Now to narrow it down to just one. Such a chore.

Water is especially sacred here in South Texas as we are mostly a desert area. We conserve on a regular basis. I my self am quite conscience of water use to the point that it is a luxury to just stand in the shower and let the water run. For the most part we rely on our yearly rain fall to water flowers and lawns which makes for some pretty dull grass at this time of the year, even more so in the summer when everything is brown. I know this is a way of life for many of us  not just me and not just in this country either.

Some of you will have seen this picture before form my recent trip to scout local for Fun Run stops but I just could not resist using it for this post. I was at a wildlife refuge in La Joya Tx and driving around exploring the 56 acre ranch. As we came out of the area of brush and cactus and drove around the bend this is what I found.

An Oasis.
Even though this is a man made structure it gives the appearance of a tropical paradise in the middle of the dry desert brush. I fell in love I believe I took about 24 pictures of this from every imaginable angle and I love everyone of them I hope you enjoy it as well.

For more information about Picture Perfect and I hope you will play along just click the link.

Taken with my Fuji Fine Pix F20 on landscape setting and using no enhancements of any kind.

am i gregory peck aka mckenna aka shankar wading through arizona under sun baked/starved condition to see an oasis for a dip in the water? BTW who is gonna pose that ravishing apache indian woman, any volunteers?

wonderful tribute, may be i am harsh with my expressions but no sooner i saw this photo than i remember only that scene of my fantasy days.

thanks for enjoying the sweet dear rita

Wonderful pic. Yes I think any that live in the south are aware of the lack of water as a resource. That is what makes me so mad at states like New Mexico and Arizona that want to steal water from Lake Michigan that is already deteriorating due to another bad thing they did to it. *sigh* All we can do is complain. Very nice pic.

I love this site. Thanks for stopping by my picture perfect post. I'll definately stop back here. We are constantly struggling with water issues here as well. I try to only grow indigenous plants, except for the veggie garden. Water does seem more beautiful when it is so scarce.
